Trace Family History

Researching Your Bellaghy Ancestors

This web-site could be a useful start to people who are researching their ancestors from Bellaghy and its surrounding district in N. Ireland. Many Ulster people left this country over the centuries with the Americas, Australia and New Zealand being favoured destinations. Some left to escape the sometimes dreary climate, some under duress by the courts, some to escape pestilence and famine and some to simply join friends and make their fortune in new lands. Whatever the individual reason, those people left important ancestral history here in Northern Ireland some of which we may still have on file or otherwise know the whereabouts of.

Comments we received for correspondants we previously assisted:

"My thanks and appreciation to R****** for all his hard, and very quick, detective work. We know so much more now. We’ll have that cup of tea, R******, when the day comes that I can leave my own footsteps on the ground my forebears have traveled" - LH

"My quest for additional ****** family genealogical information had been on hold for nearly ten years, simply because I could not locate a suitable researcher. Then came R******! I hesitate to refer to him as a “professional genealogist,” for his level of personalized service far exceeds the “business like” relationship one merely gains through professional genealogical services. Furthermore, his keen knowledge of historical documents, particularly church related records, places him in the professional genealogist ranks. In other words, R****** provided an in-depth service with a most personal touch." - DN

"What can I say? Thank you doesn’t even begin to express how much my family and I are obliged to you. Seeing pictures is always wonderful and I can’t wait to go through all of yesterday’s revelations with my father (now 86) when he comes to stay at Christmas. It means everything to be able to share his family history with him while we still can. I have been in touch with John (evidently a relative!) and he and I are currently throwing information at each other, thrilled to the core. You have made many people very happy R******, you should be very proud of yourself. Thank you too, J***, for your vital step in this swift journey of discovery." - CS
